The government is launching a new fund called AgriSURE to support startups and entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector. This Rs 750 crore fund will provide loans and investments to help these businesses grow. A hackathon for green solutions in agriculture was also kicked off.
To kickstart the project on a high note, a hackathon focused on sustainable farming innovations was held in Mumbai. The fund will be managed by NABARD’s subsidiary, NABVENTURES.
With equal contributions from the government, NABARD, and financial institutions, AgriSURE aims to cultivate a thriving ecosystem for agri-businesses. This move is expected to not only create job opportunities in rural India but also pave the way for technological advancements in farming practices.
