A significant arrest from Zomato family, Akriti Chopra, has put her papers in after serving over more than a decade for the company. The company released this information on September 27th and this brought her tenure to 13 years. Chopra had started working with Zomato in 2011 before which he had served in several important positions such as the Chief Financial Officer and the Head of People Development at Zomato. She was promoted to co-founder of the company last year, in 2021.
Chopra’s departure raises the total tally of co-founders who have left Zomato of late. In the past six years, the four executives, including Pankaj Chaddah, Gaurav Gupta, Mohit Gupta, and Gunjan Patidar, have resigned. Notably, Rahul Ganjoo, who departed in 2023, has rejoined Zomato later on.
This comes amid growing speculation that Zomato’s main rival, Swiggy, is planning to go for an IPO. The Former food delivery giant has submitted a draft red herring prospectus for its initial public offering in which it plans to raise $450 million.
