Flipkart, the Indian online retailer, announced the opening of two new fulfillment centers in Uttar Pradesh. The new FCs are strategically located at Varanasi and Unnao, collectively spanning more than 5 lakh square feet of storage space. The centres are likely to massively improve the operational efficiencies of Flipkart in the region and create in excess of 3,600 direct and indirect job opportunities within the state.
These new FCs are part of Flipkart’s overall endeavor to scale up operations and contribute to the local economy. With this investment in Uttar Pradesh, Flipkart is likely helping the state reach its aim of touching a $1 trillion economy by 2027. Other initiatives by the company include Flipkart Samarth and Samarth Krishi, aimed at empowering MSMEs, farmers, and ancillary businesses.
