Amazon: Huge Fee Cuts for Startups and Sellers

E-commerce giant Amazon India has announced a huge cut in selling fees across various product categories. The cuts, which would be applicable starting September, fall in the range of 3 per cent to 12 per cent and would hence see the sellers benefiting, more so with affordable product sellers. The strategic move is viewed against the backdrop of supporting merchant partners as they gear up for the festive season.

The new fee structure encompasses huge reductions for different categories of items on the marketplace, including clothes, home furnishings, and kitchenware. For instance, the referral fee for selling printed T-shirts is going to be heavily reduced. Additionally, Amazon has also lowered the weight handling fee, which is expensed through fulfillment programs, for sellers.

Amazon has clarified that these fee reductions will not be temporary. It wants long-term benefits for the sellers using its platform. This would certainly go a long way in helping startups and vendors in reinvesting and delivering faster growth.
